Its true for public libraries of course, but its equally true for colleges, local governments, and its extremely important for businesses. Viral distribution of information has been helping MANY smaller companies and organization reach a huge audience that normally wouldn't have ever known about them. Unfortunately, JCCC hasn't really figured out that idea yet. They've bought a 2nd Life island, but they have no idea what to do about it, and they have no other presence other than our crappy website. Does the MRRL provide a weekly/monthly video newsletter or other type of podcast/YouTube-style of content?

Re: Library 2.0 debate

Perhaps it's not as much a debate (after re-reading the posts I had originally thought *were* debating the issue) as a series of clarifying responses. Most agree with Kate Sheehan's original assessment, but there are a few posts out there that take the arguments made by John Blyberg and Kate and expand upon them (<a href="http://meredith.wolfwater.com/wordpress/index.php/2008/01/24/the-essence-of-library-20/" rel="nofollow">Merideth Farkas</a> being a quick example that I can put my hands on right now). That's not so much a debate as an expansion on a single point that she didn't entirely agree with.

Re: Library 2.0 debate

wait, there's a debate? i thought it was clear from king, blyberg and sheehan, that they thought libraries either a) weren't putting in the work or b) weren't setting acheivable goals. who's debating the other side (honsestly curious)
