I really liked the idea of the mixed environments you mentioned in your post - the work/learning/recreation stuff all mixed together. It's pretty much how I live - I work in the same place and on the same machine at which I play. One of the interesting things about my PLE/PWE was that it's just sort of built up over time, I didn't set out to create one.
